Learn About The Muffins’ Quick Make-Up & Mixing Strategies

Just when you thought the batch of muffins you’ve baked are just not right. The initial reaction would be to alter its ingredients. Before doing this, think twice and reassess what you could have done in making your recipe work, maybe perhaps use another way of mixing them altogether.

Here’s two mixing and make up strategies that will surely make your muffins a success – first include the creaming strategy and mixing strategy. When using creaming strategy, simply cream all fat (the shortening or butter contents) mixing them with sugar till they have a very light consistency then gradually adding the remaining items.

For the second strategy, mixing all dry & wet items separately then stirring them altogether until they are completely combined. Each recipe usually indicates either one or the two methods but it doesn’t mean that you just have to stick with that, you should attempt to find out which method would works best for you.

This muffin strategy is really easy and really quick. Simply mix the rest of all listed dry items altogether. Then mix all wet items together which includes eggs then include the remaining wet items into all your dry items using a spatula in mixing them and put them inside the oven when they’re all set to be baked.

Don’t even bother getting your electric mixer, you won’t need it. Simply stir all wet and dry mixtures altogether using your spatula till they are well mixed not necessarily lump free, we don’t want a lump free batter, your muffin batter should still contain lumps because we don’t need gluten found in flour to be enhanced.

When the recipes needs shortening or butter, alternate it with using veggie oil or simply butter that is melted then adding them altogether with the rest of your wet batter. Through experience we discovered it’s really better to use butter rather than oils.

An advantage on using this muffin strategy is that you can mix together those wet and dry items at least 1 night ahead.

Simply store all your wet recipe ingredients inside your refrigerator then simply add all of them thoroughly with your dry recipe ingredients during morning once you’re all set then start baking. Definitely you’d be saving a lot of time because mornings can be such a busy time.

In using this creaming strategy, put the shortening or butter inside your electric mixer bowl then gradually add in salt, spices, sugar then cream them all together using the mixer’s paddle extension.

Keep in mind that oil can’t be creamed so you’d need to substitute it with shortening or butter. The main goal is creating sharp tips of sugar-crystals using the shortening or butter making air voids inside your mixture. Because of the trapped air, it will allow each muffin to rise.

Here are 2 advantages that a creaming strategy offers: First, fat and sugar are really well dispersed within its batter & the trapped air creates a very light & very fine crumb in every muffin.

Muffin Strategy:

1. Initially whisk together all wet recipe ingredients like melted up butter, oil and eggs.

2. Then whisk in all dry recipe ingredients well together.

3. Stir in your wet recipe ingredients to your dry ones then mix them all together using your spatula ’til it gets a moist consistency.

4. Finally place them carefully in muffin cups then bake them right away as per instructions from the recipe.

Creaming Strategy:

1. Using any electric mixer’s paddle extension, cream shortening or butter, spices, salt & sugars until they reach a very light consistency.

2. While adding eggs individually, creaming them right after each addition.

3. Then mix in your liquid components while stirring them inside your mixture. Make sure not to stir too much since this can reduce the presence of trapped air inside which will make your muffin rise.

4. Then mix well the leavenings and flour together then add them into your creamed up mixture. Make sure that they are well mixed.

5. Finally put them inside muffin cups then bake them immediately or as per instructions from the recipe.

Enjoy! Hope these tips and strategies have been useful for you
